Goodnight FreeTalk
The Dixons Stores Group backed FreeTalk service is due to be cancelled by 12th september with customers being offered the opportunity to trasfer their service to former rival Vonage.
Rather than offering service Currys stores are now to only offer equipment to allow users to connect to VoIP services providerd by Skype, Microsoft’s Live Messenger and Vonage but this leaves some customers potentially in an akward spot.
While services such as FreeTalk were only sold in the UK it’s known that some customers are located overseas providing an easy solution for family and friends of ex-pats and overseas workers.
Confusingly too, at the time of posting, the FreeTalk website was still active and offering users a buy now button linking to the Dixons web store.
